Rhoads Lifters

BOOST LOW-END TORQUE UP TO 25% WITH RHOADS LIFTERS!

Up to 5 more inches vacuum on big cams
Max torque
Max revs
Max Performance

For More Low End Torque, You Need A Smaller, More Efficient Cam
For maximum low-end torque, engine vacuum and fuel economy, you need a smaller, more efficient cam. But smaller cams rob mid and upper rpm power needed for fast acceleration.

For More Top-End Power, You Need A Large, More Powerful Cam
For more mid and upper rpm power, you need a larger, more powerful camshaft. But larger cams are murder on low-end torque, engine vacuum, fuel economy and idle quality.

RHOADS VARIABLE DURATION LIFTERS GIVE YOU BOTH!!

With Rhoads Lifters you get both… that's because Rhoads Lifters work automatically and give you a smaller cam at lower rpm and a larger cam at higher rpm for the best of both worlds. Here's how…

At Lugging Speeds, Rhoads Lifters make your cam Smaller
At idle and lower rpm where lugging power and more torque are needed, Rhoads Lifters “bleed down” to make your cam smaller…about 10 degrees smaller. This really boosts low-end torque, engine vacuum, fuel economy and idle quality.

At Higher Speeds, Rhoads Lifters Make Your Cam Larger
At higher engine speeds where more cam really boosts mid and upper rpm power, Rhoads Lifters work to restore full lift and duration of your cam for maximum top-end power. As your engine revs higher, Rhoads Lifters bleed less because there is simple less time to bleed at higher engine speeds. Near 3500 rpm, the bleed action has virtually disappeared, shifting your full cam and maximum horsepower potential back into action.

EXAMPLE: Using a hydraulic cam with 270 degrees duration and .450” valve lift, here's approximately what the valve timing will look like inside the engine at various rpm using Rhoads Lifters vs. stock lifters:

Rhoads Lifters Stock Lifters
Duration Lift Duration Lift
@ Idle 260 .425" 270 .450"
@ 2000 rpm 265 .435" 270 .450"
@ 3500 rpm 270 .450" 270 .450"

As you can see from the example above, stock lifters don't vary the valve timing. Rhoads Lifters do!

RHOADS VARIABLE DURATION LIFTERS ARE ALSO ANTI-PUMPUPS

Stock hydraulic lifters cam “pump up” at higher engine speeds, drastically cutting power. But Rhoads Lifters actually help to eliminate lifter pump up, adding as much as 500 more usable RPM on top-end.

THE SOLID LIFTER SOUND OF PERFORMANCE

You can actually hear Rhoads Lifters work! They have a sound all their own; a “mild ticking” sound at idle which tells you they're working to boost low-end torque, vacuum and fuel economy. When the size of your cam is reduced for more low-end torque, the valves seat at a slightly faster rate, producing a mild solid lifter sound. This sound gradually disappears as your rpm increases, restoring your cam to its full size maximum top-end power.

PROVEN SAFE FOR YOUR VALVETRAIN

Rhoads Lifters are completely safe for your engine because they're designed to operate with standard pre-load and No Valvetrain Clearance! In fact, your valvetrain should last even longer with Rhoads Lifters. That's because valve lift is reduced at idle and lower rpm by nearly .025”. This lowers the stress on valve guides, springs and cam lobe surfaces. So don't believe our competitor's ads that imply Rhoads Lifters are in some way unsafe for your engine because they tick. With millions of Rhoads Lifters sold and over 100,000 satisfied customers including experts like Gale Banks and Louis Unser, you know it's a product you can trust.

   Rhoads V-Max Lifters
Up to 5 more inches vacuum at idle!
And more vacuum means more low-end torque… Up to 30 ft/lbs more at 2000 rpm!Our newly developed Rhoads V-MAX Variable Duration Lifters make it all happen.  Fully adjustable, these Patent Pending lifters allow you to precisely adjust whatever reduction in lift and duration you want on the low-end.  Then as the rpm increases, so does your lift and duration. You get all the benefits of a big cam plus the vacuum and low-end torque of a smaller cam.  And they're anti-pump-up for maximum hi-end revs.  Fully dyno proven!  See the August '05 issue of Hot Rod Magazine for the full gains.  So drop in a set and watch the magic begin!

Testimonials

“Low-end torque was dramatically improved and the cam is definitely streetable. The light ticking after engine warm-up adds class to my '56 pickup.” – Mike Ferency

“I was able to install a much more radical cam in my 'Vette, resulting in more power, yet idle is almost identical to stock with no loss of vacuum.” – Gary Hauck

“I had very little bottom-end until installing Rhoads Lifters. From bottom to top, it was nothing but power! For what these Rhoads Lifters do, they should cost a lot more.” – Ken McNally

“I installed a set of Rhoads Lifters and now I can idle around 800 rpm in gear. I actually have vacuum for my power brakes and now I know what low-end torque is.” – Ralph Ray

“I am very satisfied with the way Rhoads Lifters perform. The engine idles like a stocker and has good manifold vacuum the engine how has over 120,000 trouble-free miles on it – John Bloore
